The Journey Within
Meditation is what saves me. It is my number one way of coming back home to myself. The journey is always within.
When life feels noisy, when my mind is racing, when I feel disconnected, overwhelmed or simply caught up in everything that needs to be done, meditation is where I return.
I sit. I breathe. I become still. And slowly, I come back to me.
Meditation has been a deeply important part of my own spiritual journey. It is how I connect with myself beyond the noise of the mind. It is where I find calm, clarity and a deeper sense of connection. It is where I listen.
Sometimes I meditate to quiet my mind. Sometimes to calm my nerves. Sometimes I need to sit with what I'm feeling until it passes. Sometimes I meditate to focus, to cultivate awareness, or to access my intuition. And sometimes I simply sit in stillness and allow myself to receive whatever wants to arise.
There is no one right way to meditate.
There are so many different techniques, practices, traditions and guided journeys that we call meditation. Some involve breath. Some movement. Some mantra. Some visualisation. Some silence. Some take us deep within, while others help us connect with something greater than ourselves.
But underneath all of them is the same invitation: Come home to yourself. The journey is always within. Before you read on, take a breath. Place your feet on the ground and notice what is happening within you right now.
Then take a moment to journal:
Where in my life am I longing for more calm, clarity or connection?
And perhaps ask yourself:
What might I hear, feel or remember if I simply became still enough to listen?
Don't worry about finding the "right" answer. Just write whatever comes.
Sometimes the wisdom we're looking for isn't found by thinking harder. Sometimes it arrives when we become quiet enough to hear it.
This October, there is a beautiful Full Moon in Taurus, and Taurus is earth. She reminds us to slow down. To feel. To soften. To become grounded in our bodies and present in this moment. Taurus knows that peace isn't something we have to chase. Peace is something we can return to.
And under this Full Moon, I'm inviting you to step away from the busyness of everyday life and spend a whole day exploring the beautiful practice of meditation. A little invitation to pause...
A Meditation Day Retreat
This retreat is for anyone who feels called to slow down, reconnect and explore meditation in a deeper, more embodied way.
Perhaps you're completely new to meditation and have always wondered how to begin. Perhaps you've tried meditation but find your mind too busy to settle. Or perhaps meditation is already part of your life and you're ready to explore new practices and deepen your connection.
Wherever you are, there is no expectation to be "good" at meditation. There is nothing to achieve. You don't need to empty your mind. You don't need to sit perfectly still. You simply need to be willing to arrive.
What we'll explore together
Throughout the day we'll experience a variety of meditation and mindfulness practices, so you can discover what genuinely works for you.
- Grounding practices to relax the body and quieten the mind
- Breathing techniques to calm the nervous system and settle the body
- Guided meditation journeys to explore inner awareness and connect with higher consciousness
- Mantra meditation to focus the mind and create stillness
- Stillness practices to cultivate awareness, presence and inner peace
We'll also explore something I believe is just as important as learning *how* to meditate:
What gets in the way of our connection with ourselves?
The judgement. The expectations. The attachment to how things "should" be. The resistance to what is. The fear of slowing down. The discomfort of simply being with ourselves. Sometimes the very things we're trying to escape through busyness are the things asking to be witnessed.
And so, rather than pushing them away, we'll gently explore another way.
Acceptance. Forgiveness. Compassion. Surrender. Gratitude. Presence. Love.
These are some of the pathways that help us find our way home again. And perhaps that's what meditation really is. Not escaping our lives. Not trying to become someone different. Not forcing ourselves to be calm. But learning to sit with ourselves exactly as we are. To breathe through what is here. To listen beneath the noise. To notice what our body is telling us.
To create space between our thoughts and our reactions.
To remember that beneath all the doing, thinking and striving, there is a quieter part of us that is always here. The part that knows. This is the part I return to through meditation. And this is what I want to share with you.
A day to slow down. A day to reconnect. A day to come home to yourself.
You'll leave with a collection of meditation practices you can take into your everyday life — simple, practical tools you can return to when you need calm, clarity, focus, grounding or connection.
Not just a beautiful day on a meditation cushion. Practices you can actually use.
And hopefully, the discovery of a meditation practice that feels like *yours*. You don't need experience. You don't need to know how to meditate. You don't need to clear your mind. You only need to be willing to arrive.
